Easter 2014.

2,483 decisions for Christ.

It was a big weekend for our church to say the least.  :)

Spring + Summer Mentor Sessions

Spring14MentorSessionsLast spring I forced myself to take a risk to do something that had been on my heart for a long while….I began offering formal mentor sessions for photographers.  One year and 12 mentorships later, my heart is full and I am grateful.  So, so grateful.  I love being a photographer and I love running a business.  And as it turns out, I also love teaching and I love helping other entrepreneurs take steps to make their dreams come true.

Today I announce that I am again opening up some session slots for this spring and summer.  Here are the details:

$600

+ Up to 3 hours of one-on-one photography chat, goal setting and action planning with Cheyenne Schultz of The Schultzes

+ Sessions must take place in Charlotte, NC (options for skype can be arranged for out-of-towners)

+ Content will be customized based on the individual needs/interests of the mentee

+ The coffee is on me :)

I’ve also decided to offer the option to add-on a 20 minute headshot session if the mentee is in need of some updated headshots (at least 10 high resolution images with rights to use will be included).  Any mentor sessions + add-on headshots that are booked before May 1st will receive the headshot session for $50 (total would be $650).  After May 1, 2014, the headshot session maybe be added on for $100.

To inquire about available dates, please email me at us@lovetheschultzes.com

Heidi and Andrew – Engagement Session
CharlotteWeddingPhotographer_HeidiAndrew_0001

We met Heidi and Andrew this past fall at Erin and Dan’s wedding.  As soon as I saw them together on the dance floor, I knew we were in for a treat in working with them.  They are such fun.  All four of us spent most of the engagement session laughing.

Of course, I fell in love with Heidi’s blush tulle skirt and her beach cruiser (which she even let me ride…I didn’t fall off, thank you very much).  :)

See you guys soon!

Finding Beauty
Savannah2014_0001

Yesterday we returned from one of our favorite cities – Savannah, Georgia.  Our primary purpose for being there was to photograph Lindy and Jason’s wedding day (see a preview from their day HERE), but thanks to Geoff’s parents for keeping our kids and A Bark Above for keeping our dogs, we were able to extend our trip by a couple of days to rest and have a little fun.

Highlights of our trip include:

+ Hanging out with The Whitlows of Two Cents Photo + Film, who were there doing the video for the wedding.  The came in a day early, so we were able to spend some QT with them eating, exploring Savannah and texting some of the ugliest selfies imaginable back and forth to one another.  Geoff and I are so grateful to know them and hope they are in our lives for a long time.  :)

+ Eating sweet potato fries from The Distillery.  Oh man.  So.  Good.  I’m not ashamed to tell you that I think I made Geoff go with me three different times to get them.  They were worth it.

+ Sleeping in and cable tv.  We found a pretty sweet loft through Lucky Savannah to rent for our stay and throughly enjoyed it.

+ Relaxing at our favorite coffee shop – Gallery Espresso.

+ Geoff’s selfie bombs on River Street and City Market.  Exhibit A.  Exhibit B.  Exhibit C.  We were hysterical.  He even got one on wedding day with the bride and groom.

+ Having brunch with our friends Amy and Josh (they are quite the talented pair…if you want to have your mind blown, go here to see Amy’s paintings).  I can’t say it was the best service, but the company was exceptional.

I personally enjoyed my time completing my first assignment for the “Art of Styling” class I am taking through The Define School.  The assignment was focused on awakening my senses to the beauty that exists everywhere around me and then to photograph it.  The above posted image is the one I submitted as my homework.  We had just arrived to Savannah and were walking from our loft to get dinner (sweet potato fries Round 1) when I glanced over to the abandoned building we went by.  Along its side was an empty lot full of flowers…errrr….weeds.  :)  I noticed how the breeze and light were hitting them and promptly sat myself down on the dirty curb of the street to try my hand at capturing what I was seeing.  The above shot is the result.  I was pleased.

Here are a few other images I photographed in my quest to find beauty (I particularly love this first one of my husband enjoying his coffee) :

April Goals

Yes, we are already eight days into April.  And yet, that won’t stop me from blogging my April goals.  If you’ve followed this blog for any length of time, you know I am not the timeliest of people when it comes to blogging goals.  :)

_______________________________________________________________________________________

BUSINESS

1.  The Art of Styling.  Ah!  I’m so pumped!  This month I am taking an online course through The Define School.  My class is “The Art of Styling” and is taught by a local photographer whom I really admire – Anna Naphtali.  I was really just wanting to learn something different, and at the same time, step up my game as a photographer.  We complete our first assignment this week!

2.  Savannah Trip.  Not only are we photographing what is sure to be a beautiful wedding in Savannah, but we are taking some time to do some photography work as well.  On the agenda is our continued business planning/goal setting using Lara Casey’s Powersheets, as well as doing a little shooting…just for fun.

3.  Spring/Summer Mentor Sessions.  I’ll be announcing availability here on the blog very soon, so if you are interested, either sit tight or send an email my way through the connect form.  :)

LIFE

1.  Spring bucket list.  I think I had this on March’s list of goals, but I’m unashamedly putting it back on here for April.  We’ve been doing some fun things as a family over the past few weeks, but we have a whole list of things we want to do before the Spring season is over.  We just need to make a schedule!

2.  Easter at Elevation.  It’ll be here so soon and I can’t wait to photograph it.  Consider this your official invitation to check out one of our Easter experiences – we’ve got nine different locations across Charlotte with many opportunities across Friday, Saturday and Sunday of April 19th, 20th and 21st.  Details can be found here.

3.  Dye Easter eggs.  Yes, we do the whole shebang…the eggs, the candy, the bunny.

4.  Financial Coaching.  At the beginning of this year, we signed up to get some financial coaching with the great Will Ray.  Such a great decision.  This month we will have our final meeting with Will.  I can’t recommend him enough.

5.  Savannah Trip.  This one goes under the life section as well, as we’ve got some plans for some downtime during our trip.  We’ll probably make our rounds to our usual Savannah favorite hotspots…Vinnie’s and Gallery Espresso are two of them.  :)

One of my goals from last month was to take some pictures of Crew with “the real camera” (i.e. not my phone).  Here are just a few of my sweet little Hachi.

(Pay no attention to the too-big socks she is wearing in that last shot.  They were Boone’s and she insisted we put them on her.)
